Bio
With perfect comedic timing, Emmi Abel-Rutter made her comedy debut in February 2020, in her hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.
Her comedy career kicked off in a non-traditional way. She combined her sales job, with her comedy aspirations. In a “guerilla warfare” pop-up style, she organized & performed numerous roasts for her colleagues during their company events, in any space she could find, such as hotel lobbies at conferences in New York, Texas, and Oklahoma, and retreats in South Carolina and Tennessee.
In June 2023, Emmi became an “unhoused” solo backpacker: pet-sitting around the world and performing along the way. She has no plans to settle in one city any time soon. In addition to seeing her pop up throughout the United States, she’s performed in England (London, Manchester, Bristol), Australia (Melbourne, Cairns, Geelong, Newcastle), Scotland, Germany, Spain, Aruba, & Mexico.
In 2024, she produced and headlined a sold out show in Madrid, Spain.
In 2025, she wrote, produced, & debuted her one hour show: Big Fish, No Pond. She continues to perform that show throughout the U.S.
Emmi is currently traveling — performing at private events, clubs, & indie comedy nights around the country.

“Just wanted to say again that your standup was hilarious! I knew it would be funny, but I was blown away with HOW funny your whole performance was. It was incredibly entertaining and spot on with your observations…Thanks for sharing your gift with the rest of us. And enjoy your time in Australia!”
